Scenes from Game of Thrones
The Red Keep
The Red Keep is the epicentre of the capital of the Seven Kingdoms, and it's also where the Iron Throne is located. It's one of the most important settings in Game of Thrones, and was filmed in Dubrovnik, specifically at Lovrjenac (St. Lawrence's Fort)
Notable scenes filmed here include King Joffrey's naming ceremony and the tense exchange between Cersei and Littlefinger, where she chillingly reminds him that “power is power”.
The Walk of Atonement
Undoubtedly, one of the most memorable scenes from the series is Cersei's Walk of Atonement. The Jesuit steps of the Church of Saint Ignatius were chosen to be the setting for this infamous scene. Here, Cersei walks down the steps naked, while the public throws rubbish and insults her.
Nowadays, it's quite common to see groups of tourists imitating this scene.
The Bay of Blackwater
Between Lovrjenac and the Bokar Fortress lies Pile Bay. Fan of the Game of Thrones series will recognize this area as the shore of the Red Keep. It's here where Cersei Lannister bids farewell to her daughter Myrcella, who is set to marry the prince of Dorne.
The entrance to King's Landing
A must-see landmark even before Game of Thrones brought it international fame, Pile Gate served as the dramatic setting for Jamie Lannister's return to King's Landing. Just as in the series, the gate historically functioned as the main entrance to Dubrovnik's fortified Old Town.
It also appears in the unforgettable scene of the people's revolt against King Joffrey.
Dubrovnik Walls
The walls of Dubrovnik have also starred in the filming of the hit series. Fans will recognize them from the scene where Varys and Tyrion walk along the ramparts, planning the defence of King's Landing.
One of the most memorable locations is the imposing Minčeta Tower, which served as the exterior of the House of the Undying. It’s here that Daenerys bravely ventures in to rescue her dragons.
Spice King's Residence
The majestic Rector's Palace is where the Spice King of Qarth lived. Here, Daenerys ask him for a small fleet of boats to take her army to Westeros.
