Dubrovnik Aquarium
The Dubrovnik Aquarium is home to marine life from the Dalmatian coast and beyond. Inside, you'll find sea turtles, crabs, eels, manta rays, sea urchins, and many other fascinating species. While the aquarium is relatively small, its exhibits are engaging, especially for children.
The Dubrovnik Aquarium is found within the Fort of St. John, next to the Old Port of Dubrovnik and is home to several rooms that exhibit the diverse flora and fauna of the Adriatic Sea. Although it's not very big, it's always a fun experience to see animals up close.
In addition to a family of friendly sea creatures, the Aquarium's collection also includes fossil remains of incredible animals like the legendary giant squid (preserved in formalin) and bones from a blue whale's spine. You can also see an array of seashells and a taxidermy coral and starfish.
At the Dubrovnik Aquarium, you can also take a deep dive into current events, like the pressing issue of ocean pollution. Informative panels walk you through how waste breaks down in seawater and the impact left on marine life, making your visit both fun and eye-opening.
